Human Motivation

Two inputs: feelings (of various types) and intellect.

Based on these inputs, the will decides how/what to act.

Neither the intellect nor feelings can be trusted out of the gate and must be developed to be more and more useful as inputs.

Without the will, base programming will take over and how/what to act will be determined by lower level feelings or desires.

Feelings – pleasure, pain, hot, cold, hunger, thirst

Drives – sex, conquest, to be admired

Emotions – pride, delight in others, etc…

Higher Emotions – feeling of transcendence, desire for growth

Reason – the ability to challenge the strength of the above based on sifting through evidence. At the same time it serves as a challenge, it is also extremely susceptible to being biased by feelings, drives, and lower emotions.
