Is a source of great and consistent good. Spectacular good in fact: the global concept of social justice, for example, wouldn’t even exist if it wasn’t for the teachings of Christ.
And yet… we MUST say something about the evil… There are so many examples of evil being done in the name of religion as well (including Christianity).
Perhaps the reality here is very similar to the problem of evil (see that post). Without the capacity to do great good, it is impossible to do great things (love) but with that capacity, it is also possible to do evil things (genocide).
Same for religion. It is the force behind great good when used/applied/considered properly and great evil when used/applied/considered improperly.
If your religion does not somehow foster transcendence and virtue, however, I’m not sure it is of much use…
